Future Champions Emerge at WTTC

Worthing Table Tennis Club continues to inspire the next generation of players through its successful First Hits Competition Circuit, a programme designed to give young players  their first experience of competitive table tennis in a fun, structured and supportive environment.

The initiative forms a key part of the club’s player development pathway, offering beginners and developing juniors the opportunity to progress at their own pace—from their very first match through to advanced coaching and higher-level competition.

The latest First Hits event saw an outstanding turnout across multiple age categories, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for junior table tennis in the Worthing area.

The Under 11 competition attracted 12 players, all competing in group stages before progressing into tiered knockout rounds. Worthing TTC’s own Jude delivered an impressive performance to take the top spot, overcoming strong competition from Ivo and Hal in the final stages. Hal secured silver after a closely contested five-set match.

The event also showcased the club’s inclusive ethos, with younger players gaining valuable match experience. Six-year-old Alex impressed with his determination against older opposition, while the Plate competition ensured every player enjoyed multiple matches, with Jack Emery finishing top after a dominant series of performances.

The Under 13 category featured a full round-robin format, giving all players maximum time on the table—an essential part of development at this stage. Natan Kasjaniuk emerged as the overall winner, followed by Fabian Fejdych and Fonzie Volpe, in a highly competitive field.

Reflecting increased participation from secondary school players, Worthing TTC introduced a new Under 15 category to the circuit. The final delivered high-quality play, with Mia Gokool producing a strong comeback to defeat Cian Edwards and claim the title.

Across all age groups, the day was marked not only by competitive matches but also by excellent sportsmanship, confidence building and enjoyment—key values at the heart of Worthing TTC’s coaching philosophy.

The First Hits Circuit is just one step in the club’s wider pathway, which supports players from beginner level through to advanced competition. With regular coaching sessions, school partnerships and internal competitions, Worthing TTC is committed to making table tennis accessible while helping players realise their potential.
