Young Table tennis teams keep the pace at Day 3 of the Cadet British Clubs

Worthing Table Tennis Club enjoyed a hugely successful Day 3 of the Cadet British Clubs League, held at Horsham, with strong performances across multiple divisions highlighting the club’s depth, strength, and bright future.

In Division 1, Worthing A of Hoy Wen Lueng, Liam Higgins, Nathaneal Criag and Vincent Ridley, delivered an outstanding day to sit top of the table. The team opened with an impressive 6–3 victory over Brighton A, followed by a narrow 5–4 defeat to South Croydon in a tightly contested match. They finished in emphatic style with an 8–1 win over Horsham A, keeping them firmly in control of the title race heading into the final day.

There was further cause for celebration in Division 2, where newly promoted Worthing C, Roscoe Hill, Finn Barr and Jinxy He, produced a flawless display to top the table and secure promotion to the top division. The team claimed a 7–2 win against Horsham B, followed by a 6–3 victory over South Croydon B, before ending the day with a hard-fought 5–4 win over Limpsfield A, a side recently relegated from Division 1. This result guarantees that Worthing will field two teams in the top division on the final day of the competition.

In Division 3, Worthing B, Ava and Evie Muggeridge and Ashley Almedia, showed great resilience to retain their place in the division after a tense day’s play. They narrowly lost 5–4 to Limpsfield B, responded superbly with a 5–4 win over Brighton B, and despite a 6–3 defeat in their final match, did enough overall to secure safety.

The club’s youngest squad, Worthing D, Jamie Morl, Max Lee and Noah Smith, continued their impressive progress in Division 5, finishing the day as runners-up and remaining firmly in contention to win the division on the final day. The team edged past Horsham H 5–4, suffered a 7–2 loss to Horsham D, and bounced back brilliantly with another 5–4 win over Horsham G.

With teams challenging at every level and two sides set to compete in the top division, Day 3 was a memorable success for Worthing — setting up an exciting finale to the Cadet British Clubs League season with medals a very real possibility.
