If Welcome to Wrexham captured how belief, momentum and a strong community can drive an extraordinary sporting rise, then Worthing Table Tennis Club are now telling their own version of that story — with the Ladies A team leading the charge, but with Bat, not boots
Worthing TTC Ladies A have secured promotion to the Premier Division of the Women’s British Clubs League, completing a remarkable run of four consecutive promotions since first entering the competition. From league newcomers to the highest tier of British women’s club table tennis.
Season after season, the team has risen to new challenges, meeting stronger opposition with resilience, unity and consistently high-level performances. Like the now-famous footballing journey in North Wales, this success has been built on long-term commitment, trust in the process and a collective belief that each step forward was possible.
The final weekend of matches, which took place in Wolverhampton saw the team clinched not only promotion but also capturing the division 1 title, going unbeaten across the second weekend. This promotion sees the ladies now amongst the elite clubs from across the UK playing in the Premier division.
Worthing had three other sides in action in the midlands with the B side securing 4th place in division 3 after rallying on day 2 to fight off any relation fears, the C team unfortunately did suffer relation and will play next year in division 5, While the D team also secured silverware coming runners up in Division 6 B in their debut year.
Crucially, the Ladies A achievement is part of a much bigger picture at Worthing Table Tennis Club. Alongside success at the elite end of the sport, the club continues to invest heavily in grassroots and community table tennis, providing coaching, competitive opportunities and an inclusive pathway for players of all ages and abilities.
That pathway is already producing outstanding results. Worthing TTC’s Youth British Clubs League team currently sit top of the table, as does the Cadet British Clubs League team A team. while the Junior British Clubs League team hold third place in Division 1, underlining the depth of talent being developed across the programme.
Head Coach Matt Porter said “the alignment between community work and competitive success as the foundation of Worthing’s rise”. The Ladies promotion not only places the club among the elite of women’s British table tennis, but also serves as a powerful inspiration for the next generation watching from the sidelines — and increasingly, stepping onto the tables themselves”.

To build on this momentum, Worthing Table Tennis Club is actively seeking sponsorship partners to support the continued development of new talent and to help expand its community outreach programmes. Sponsorship will play a vital role in enhancing coaching provision, improving facilities, and ensuring that table tennis remains accessible and thriving within Worthing and the surrounding area.
As Worthing TTC Ladies A prepare for their Premier Division debut, they do so with confidence, ambition and the backing of a growing club community. The challenge ahead may be the toughest yet, but if the past four seasons have shown anything, it’s that Worthing Table Tennis Club is building something special — and inviting others to be part of that journey
