Worthing Table Tennis Club celebrated its fifth birthday in spectacular fashion, welcoming members, supporters, local dignitaries and guests to a fantastic day that showcased the club’s remarkable achievements and strong community spirit.
The milestone event brought together players and families of all ages for an afternoon of table tennis, celebration and friendship, marking five successful years since the club was founded. The atmosphere reflected the welcoming and inclusive ethos that has become synonymous with Worthing Table Tennis Club.
Among the special guests were the Deputy Mayor of Worthing and the Town Crier, whose attendance added a ceremonial touch to the occasion. Members of Worthing Camera Club also attended the celebration, strengthening the excellent relationship between the two organisations.
The event also highlighted the strong relationships the club has built within the local table tennis community. Representatives from several clubs in the Worthing Table Tennis League attended to celebrate alongside Worthing TTC members, together with officials and players from the South West Sussex Table Tennis League, demonstrating the unity and camaraderie that exists across the region’s table tennis family.
A particular highlight of the day was the unveiling of the club’s newest table tennis table. While a new table might not normally attract much attention at a table tennis club, this was no ordinary table. It was one of the official competition tables used at the 2026 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals in London, where many of the world’s top players competed. The table now takes pride of place at Worthing Table Tennis Club, giving members the rare opportunity to play on a unique piece of table tennis history. The chance to use the championship table proved to be one of the highlights of the celebration, with members delighted to experience the same playing surface used by many of the world’s top players.
Since its establishment in 2021, Worthing Table Tennis Club has grown into one of Sussex’s leading clubs, providing coaching, social sessions and competitive opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. The club has built a reputation for being welcoming, inclusive and community-focused, attracting hundreds of players while encouraging participation regardless of experience or background.
Head Coach Matt Porter Said
“Our fifth birthday celebration was everything we hoped it would be. It was wonderful to see so many members, friends, volunteers and distinguished guests joining us to celebrate this special milestone. We are especially grateful to the Deputy Mayor, the Town Crier, Worthing Camera Club, the clubs from the Worthing Table Tennis League, and representatives from the South West Sussex Table Tennis League for sharing the day with us. Their support reflects the fantastic table tennis community we are proud to be part of.
“Five years ago we set out to create a club that welcomed everyone, and seeing so many people celebrating together was a reminder of just how far we’ve come. The arrival of our championship table makes this milestone even more special, giving our members the chance to train and play on a table that has already hosted some of the very best players in the world. We look forward to continuing to grow, inspire new players and serve our local community for many years to come.”
