Worthing TTC A are the Worthing & District Table Tennis League 2021/2022 champions! The team guaranteed the top spot with 2 fixtures remaining after an emphatic 10-0 win over Woodlands C.
A brilliant team effort as shown on the player’s averages with Worthing TTC A players dominating.
Pedro Santos kept a 100% record with 36/36 wins, followed closely by Sally Hughes with 38/39 and Nick Gamblin 23/27.
Congratulations to our young club taking the Local League on the first time asking!

Honorable 6th place for Worthing ladies at Nationals! – 9th July, Derby
After winning the League Cup’s Regional Finals earlier this year, the Worthing women’s team travelled to Draycott Table Tennis Centre (Derby) to face the other 7 winners across the country.
It was already a great achievement to reach the final stage of the competition and nothing was expected. Nonetheless, they pulled it through to get an impressive 6th place, only losing by the minimum margin (3-2) for the 5th-6th place match.
A joined force with the team composed by Sally Hughes (Worthing TTC) and Sandra Yee (Woodlands TTC). Well done ladies, you left Worthing proud!

Horsham Spinners 2* – 9th July, Chichester
Worthing TTC’s young upcoming players were at it again in Chichester! The boys are loving it and learning with every single tournament they play, coming back to the training hall with more hunger than ever.
Kenson (11) played both U13 and U14 events and although couldn’t celebrate a win, played fantastically against some tough and more experienced opposition, unluckily not taking his 5th setters.
Harley (13) celebrated getting to another final in the U15 Consolation Event, beating a player to whom he had lost previously in the semi-finals. He couldn’t take the gold this time but it will surely come soon.
Both players have only been training since September and reaching these stages and battling it out with some of these players is no minor feat! Congratulations for the resilience and perseverance!

Head Coach strike bronze at Charity Tournament – 2nd July, Isle of Wight
Founder Director and Head Coach Pedro Santos, travelled to the Isle of Wight to be part of the Mountbatten Charity Tournament on Saturday 2nd July.
A strong performance starting with five 3-0 wins in the group stage to secure 1st in his group.
A more challenging match in the last 16 against Rod McMullan saw Pedro scrapping the 3-2 win…
He faced young upcoming talent from Reading, Harry Randall (14 years old) in the Quarters.
It was another 3-0 but with some great rallies exchanged! This put Pedro into the Semi-Finals against top seed and England no42, George Downing.
A fantastic match and the first game could have gone either way, with George edging it 15-13.
It was 3-0 in the end to the highest ranked but a 3rd place finish guaranteed some glory. Nicely done Coach!

Inter-Regionals Qualification – 19th March 2022
Worthing TTC had two players battling for a place in the South West Regional teams at the Inter-Regionals Qualifiers in Tunbridge Wells. Kenson Chan in the Under-13 age group, started well with a win in his group but was then edged out by strong opposition. Harley Sinclair in Under-15 found the run a little tougher as most best players turned up for the event. Nonetheless, he showed great maturity and wasn’t far from getting some upsets!
Both players have been training only for 6 months so a great achievement to see them toe-to-toe against players who are far more experienced. A very well done to you boys!!

Cippenham 4* – 5th DEC 2021
A very well done to WTTC Junior player Daban Razai at last weekend’s Cippenham 4*
Playing against some of the best players in the country is not an easy task but an invaluable experience to keep on improving!

London Academy 2* – 9th Oct 2021
Brilliant participation from Worthing TTC Juniors Daban Razai and Morgan Turner today at one of the very first official competitions after the pandemic.
Daban’s (15 years old) debut saw him going through his group in Under 18 but eventually losing in a close 3-2 match in Round 2 to eventual semi-finalist Daniel Goitom (Greenhouse Sports). Great performance and with his dedication and work ethic he will definitely be a contender very soon.
Morgan (15 years old) played some brilliant table tennis and training seems to be paying off! He had a good first game against Ralph Pattison (currently ranked 50 nationally in Under 18) but got knocked out from the group. The beauty of improving is that there’s always more to learn!
Congratulations to all players on a great day of table tennis!
